On the afternoon of October 16, 2019, the 15.6 meter austenitic stainless steel forging ring, manufactured by chinese company, was successfully shipped from the factory.
According to the news, the austenitic stainless steel forging ring with a diameter of 15.6 meters was jointly developed by Elite and the Chinese Atomic Energy Institute and the Academician Li Yiyi of the Institute of Metals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It took nearly four years from the start of the project in 2016 to the official delivery. The team completed two-meter, five-meter, and other cross-section simulations; a 16-meter-diameter equipment capability verification piece; a 15.6-meter-diameter proportional test and two formal engineering pieces with a diameter of 15.6 meters.
This project broke three world records: 1, the first 230 tons of metal billet graded construction additive manufacturing; 2, the heaviest austenitic stainless steel forgings;3, the largest diameter austenitic stainless steel Overall forged ring.
According to reports, this oversized forging ring will be used in China’s latest nuclear power technology. With the successful delivery of this 15.6-meter austenitic stainless steel forging ring, chinese company has entered the international leading level in material construction and over-grinding ring manufacturing.
