Compression Mould Tool Steel
Fushun are main manufacturer of tool steel for Compression Mould.
What is Compression Mould?
A compression mold is a specialized manufacturing tool designed for the compression molding process, consisting of a matching top and bottom mold that works under heat and pressure. The mold typically includes a cavity in the lower portion and a force-applying plunger or plug in the upper portion. Unlike Compression molds, compression molds operate by directly compressing pre-placed material rather than injecting it, making them particularly suitable for larger parts and thermoset materials.
The main function of compression molds is to shape materials through the application of heat and pressure, transforming raw materials such as thermoset compounds, rubber, or composite materials into finished products. During the process, the mold not only shapes the material but also facilitates the chemical curing reaction in thermoset materials. These molds are designed with specific features including flash channels, air vents, heating elements, and ejection systems to ensure proper material flow, curing, and part removal.
Compression molds require materials with specific properties to withstand the unique challenges of the compression molding process. The mold materials must possess excellent heat resistance, high compressive strength, and good thermal conductivity. They also need to demonstrate superior wear resistance and dimensional stability at elevated temperatures. The mold surfaces often receive special treatments or coatings to prevent material adhesion and enhance release characteristics, while also improving the mold’s resistance to thermal fatigue and chemical reactions from the molding compounds.
