1. 1.7176 Applications:
EN 1.7176 steel is an alloy steel formulated for primary forming into wrought products. 1.7176 is the EN numeric designation for this material. 55Cr3 is the EN chemical designation. It has a moderately low embodied energy among EN wrought alloy steels. Steel grade for laminated springs thickness above 7 mm for trucks and railway vehicles, coiled and threaded springs.

5. 1.7176 HEAT TREATMENT:
- FORGING:Hot forming temperature: 1050 – 850°C.
- SOFT ANNEALING: Heat to 640 – 680°C, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 248.
- HARDENING: Harden from a temperature of 830 – 860°C followed by oil quenching.
- TEMPERING:Tempering temperature: 430 – 500°C, air.

EN 10204/3.1 with all relevant data reg. chem. composition, mech. properties and results of testing.
